Andrew completed a 4 year BA at Leeds Beckett University before returning to his roots in Greater Manchester to take up his first teaching post. He has over 19 years of experience in primary education where he taught across both Key Stages in two different settings.
He was within leadership roles, holding a range of TLR's and Senior Leadership posts for 15 years and was designated as a Specialist Leader of Education in 2010 to support other settings to develop their approaches to assessment and curriculum design. Andrew became a Head teacher in April 2019 in a 1 form entry Primary School that had a Resourced Provision for pupils with Speech, Language & Communication Difficulties.
During his time in school, Andrew became a Basic Skills Quality Mark Assessor, Guest Lecturer at Leeds Beckett University and a trained facilitator for a range of National organisations such as Tribal, OLEVI and Best Practice Network. In addition, he has provided an extensive range of School to School support, delivered NPQ training sessions, designed a range of bespoke training courses/programs within his own school and worked with a diverse range of teachers/leaders within primary, secondary and specialist educational settings.
Teacher Training has always been something Andrew is passionate about and he has supported ITT through delivering training on Schools Direct Programs within Greater Manchester as well as codesigning and facilitating a successful NQT program
Andrew has worked on the Primary PGCE course since September 2022 as a Lecturer and Professional Tutor for the High Peak and Pennine clusters. He lectures in Behaviour Management and Social Emotional Learning for the Professional Studies element of the taught course. In addition, he has also taken on responsibility for the design and facilitation of the Behaviour Management Intensive Training and Practice (ITAP) element of the Primary PGCE. In September 2023 Andrew started to work as a lecturer as part of the SCITT team.
