After exploring soil microbial communities and their responses to various environmental extreme conditions (Ecole centrale de LYON, ECULLY, France) I am now studying Phaeocystis antarctica blooms in the Southern Ocean, their co-evolution with specific bacterial organisms and impact on global climate (Marine Biological Laboratory, WOODS HOLE, USA). Primary results (including genome reconstructions) support the concept of a stable and functionally important Phaeocystis antarctica microbiome.
