The main challenges around OJS' adoption in Mexican humanities journals are the extent of offices that intervine in its technical maitenance (e.g. the universty's publication department, the Library or external consultants) which hinder the fluidity of the editorial process. Also, the lack of technical knowledge on behalf of the journal's academic and executive editors resulted in the use of OJS for publication rather than editorial management. Moreover, its compulsory implementation due to indexing services and databases' recommendation and policies on evaluation of scientific publications result in a non-critical implementation of OJS in most of the cases analyzed.
