Conception! (We’ve come a long way)
2012
JANUARY
Figshare is launched, after receiving the Digital Science Catalyst Grant.
JUNE
F1000 becomes our first publisher client. We have since gone to provide research data infrastructure for Wiley, SpringerNature, Taylor and Francis, PLOS, to name a few.
AUGUST
Open API launched. Our application programming interface (API) is a set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications, helping to automate researcher workflows!
OCTOBER
Figshare signs on as an ORCID launch partner. Thus allowing researchers to automatically push all of their research outputs into their open researcher profile.
2013
JANUARY
Figshare launches the Advisor program. Who better to help spread the word than the researchers who love what we do. Find out about all of the benefits!
2014
MARCH
Figshare partners with Github and the Mozilla Science Lab. In doing so, we helped pioneer some of the standards and workflows for credit for Code as a Research Output.
AUGUST
The development of Figshare for institutions takes us to the next level of optimising workflows, taking into account the needs of librarians and administrators, as well as the researchers.
SEPTEMBER
We were delighted to be recognised as a New radicals Winner - highlighting organisations offering innovative ways to tackle social challenges.
2015
MARCH
The partnership between Figshare and DataCite is formalized to support branded DOI minting at an institutional level. Thus further cementing our work with the research data management community
AUGUST
Our institutional offering goes live, launching globally with 10 institutions accross 3 continents. You can find out more about this functionality here!
