This project sought to reduce phosphorus loading the Moswansicut Reservoir, a public drinking water supply, by implementing outreach and education efforts throughout the reservoir's small watershed in Scituate, Glocester, Johnston, and Smithfield, RI. Additionally, the Northern RI Conservation District and partners from Providence Water and the University of Rhode Island implemented Canada Goose management techniques at the Moswansicut Reservoir and monitored phosphorus loading to the Moswansicut with a volunteer water quality monitoring program. Specific outreach and education techniques utilized included educational mailings, workshops, community nights, and volunteer opportunities. A toolkit of strategies used in the project was developed and will also be developed and distributed to region-wide partners. The project will be completed by June 31, 2016.
