Strontium Decay Data
Data taken with Timepix hybrid silicon detector to measure the attenuation of beta particles from Strontium-90 in Aluminium of varying thickness.
Detector settings can be found in .dsc files alongside data. Distance from source to detector = 9.3cm,
Distance from source to Aluminium = 4cm.
Inside the zip file, the data for each thickness of aluminium is saved in a file with the thickness as its filename.
Data is stored in data.txt files in X,Y,C format, where X is the x-co-ordinate of the hit pixel in the Timepix detector's 256x256 pixel silicon sensor element, Y is the y-co-ordinate of the pixel, and C is the number of counts recorded in the pixel.
The counts recorded is equivalent to the charge deposited in the pixel about a predetermined threshold value. The detector is run in Time Over Threshold mode, where it measures the charge for the amount of time it is above the threshold value.
