Use of pseudo-2d simulations to understand microstructure-performance relationships in PEMFC cathode catalyst layers.
Prepared and presented by Corey Randall at 235th Electrochemical Society Meeting, Dallas, TX, May 29, 2019.
By estimating Nafion structure-property relationships from previously
published data, we are able to capture changes to the limiting current
with varying Pt loading. However, there remains a kinetic limitation,
which scales linearly with Pt loading, which the model does not
currently capture.
Results also predict
non-monotonic variation of PEMFC performance with variations in the
Nafion catalyst coating thickness within the catalyst layer.
