Single-joint hybrid assistive limb (HAL-SJ) is an exoskeletal robot suit that leads to functional improvement. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effect of knee extension exercise using HAL-SJ after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). This prospective randomized controlled trial included 76 patients with knee osteoarthritis and was assigned randomly to HAL-SJ or conventional physical therapy (CPT) groups. HAL-SJ group underwent exercise using HAL-SJ for 10 days postoperatively, in addition to conventional physical therapy. CPT group performed conventional physical therapy.
