Data published in PLoS One "Prior exposure to corticosterone markedly enhances and prolongs the neuroinflammatory response to systemic challenge with LPS." Mice were exposed to corticosterone (200 mg/L in 0.6% EtOH) in the drinking water for 7 days prior to exposure to LPS (2 mg/kg, s.c.). At 2, 6, or 12h, cytokine mRNA was measured by real-time PCR in various brain regions, namely cortex. pSTAT3Tyr705 and GFAP protein levels were also measured by immunoassay.
