Prototype_GALC_database

This dataset presents three levels of maps for the prototype Global Aquatic Land Cover database, which is generated using existing global datasets. Level-1 identifies aquatic land cover as a whole, representing the discrimination of aquatic and non-aquatic lands. Level-2 describes the persistence of water - the duration of water covering the surface, the presence of vegetation - the existence or absence of vegetation, and the artificiality of cover - whether or not a land cover is managed by humans. Level-3 specifies the vegetated and non-vegetated types into more detailed classes.
