ECOPICS Project : Aboveground Plant Dry Mass from 0.2 5 x 0.25m soil monolith

Field campaign October-November 2017

Last modification : May 2022 by Isabelle Barois and Martín de los Santos

The above-ground plant biomass was sampled per species on the top of the monolith (0.25 x 0.25m). Samples were dried in the oven and weighed after by Maricruz Álvarez. All the masses are therefore Dry Masses.

The dry  biomass of each  green species was weighed and recorded independently. The dry biomass of  the dry species was weighted  all together and  only the dominance of each dry species was expressed as a percentage  of the total by monolith. The  Aboveground Dry Mass Is = total dry green Biomass + total dry Biomass

Each monolith has a unique name made of :

 Altitudinal level : from 3400 to 4400 (every 200 m)

 Plot Number : from 1 to 30

Target Species names: Tree, Pinus hartwegii; Shrub,Oxylobus arbutifolius/Chianolaena lavandulifolia and; Herb, Lupinus monticola/Senecio roseus
