The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Index and Dashboards are analytical tools for assessing countries' baselines for the goals agreed by 193 countries in September 2015. The SDG Index and Dashboards synthesize available country-level date for all SDGs, estimating the distance that must be closed to achieve the SDGs. They will be revised and updated annually. The 2016 SDG Index shows substantial variation across 149 countries for which data is available. All countries face major challenges in achieving the SDGs and many countries' development strategies are imbalanced across the economic, social, and environmental SDG priorities.

The data file only contains data and results for the 149 countries included in the SDG Index and Dashboards. Sources for the data include the UNSTATS database reporting official SDG indicators (https://unstats.un.org/sdgs/indicators/database/), as well as other metrics published in the peer-reviewed literature, major databases (from the World Bank, OECD, IMF, WHO...) and reports on development and environmental indicators.

The data file contains, for 149 countries:
a) the SDG Index rank and scores
b) the SDG index scores for each of the 17 SDGs
c) the normalised data of each indicator (0-100)
d) the original data for each indicator
e) the SDG dashboard ratings for each of the 17 SDGs
f) the SDG dashboard ratings for each indicator
