This database contains community-wide data on parenting and child behavioral outcomes collected from 760 parent-child dyads across 5 separate waves; spanning from August 2012 to January 2019. Participants resided in a stable, low-income, rural community, known as Touwsranten, which is situated in the Western Province, South Africa.

Two major aims of the Touwranten study were to investigate whether (1) 4 parenting interventions and (2) community-wide social activation campaigns, implemented between Waves 3-4, would lead to positive change in parenting practices and child outcomes. Data on parenting, child outcomes, parenting program attendance and social activation are avaliable.
