100% MSG was acquired from Japan and reconstituted to make 5% and 2%. 30 adult male wistar rats were grouped into 5 groups (N = 6). Group A was treated with MSG 6g/kg s.c; Group B was on 5% MSG in feed; Group C was on 2% MSG in feed and Group D was on 60 mg/kg s.c while the control, Group E had no MSG. Rats were treated for 30 days and later on sacrificed and the eye and brain tissue removed.
