Corneal confocal microscopy has been increasingly deployed in clinical research studies. However, the effect of image selection, repeatability and the number of images required to accurately quantify CCM images has not been addressed. Our study shows that implementing a standardized protocol to select CCM images results in high intra and inter-observer reproducibility corneal nerve quantification and 6 images are adequate for analysis
