DNAm-atlas (version-1)

Published on by Andrew Teschendorff
DNAm-atlas is a database of tissue-specific mRNA and DNA methylation (DNAm) reference matrices which in conjunction with a reference-based cell-type deconvolution algorithm can be used to perform cell-type deconvolution tasks on bulk-tissue mRNA or DNAm datasets. The main task is estimation of all main cell-type fractions in the given tissue. Other tasks may include detecting cell-type specific differential DNAm. The current 1st version installment of the DNAm-atlas consists of 13 mRNA and DNAm reference matrices encompassing 12 tissue-types and 39 cell-types. The tissue-types include lung, breast, prostate, pancreas, human aorta/heart, bladder, liver, olfactory epithelium, brain, kidney, skin and colon. The EpiSCORE R-package, also provided here, provides functions for generating these reference matrices, as well as for estimating cell-type fractions in corresponding bulk-tissue DNA methylomes.
