A tandem
Cu(I)-catalyzed conjugate addition of Kharasch reagents/diastereoselective
protonation of (E)-α-trialkylsilyl-β-alkyl(aryl)-α,β-unsaturated
esters afforded the saturated products with d.r. values of >20:1
favoring
the anti-diastereomer in modest to excellent isolated yields.
