Supercontinuum Laser-Based Multi-Contrast Optical Coherence Tomography for Rat Retina Imaging

Posted on 2018-11-12 - 20:21
This study presents an ultrahigh resolution multi-contrast optical coherence tomography system integrating with fundus photography for in vivo retinal imaging in rodents. A supercontinuum laser adopts in the system providing an axial resolution of 1.8 µm in the air (1.4 µm in tissue). Intrinsic three contrasts include the backscattered intensity, phase retardation, and microvasculature at the capillary level can be simultaneously obtained. Pigmented Long Evans (LE) and non-pigmented (albino) Sprague Dawley (SD), as well as Royal College of Surgeons (RCS-/-) rats, were imaged and compared. In vivo imaging results were validated with histology.
