Ocean quieting during COVID

Posted on 2021-03-29 - 16:26 authored by John Ryan
This data set includes four data resources that were examined to study impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on low-frequency ocean noise, through effects on shipping activity: (1) spectrum levels for the 63 Hz third-octave band (representing shipping noise) from a deep-sea hydrophone located off central California; (2) Automatic Identification System (AIS) vessel tracking data within a 165 km radius around the hydrophone; (3) gross tonnage of ships entering and leaving California ports; (4) modeled acoustic transmission loss at 63 Hz.
