One of the great things about having an Open API is the ease of which it facilitates integrations with other research tool systems.
The OSF launched a great figshare add-on a few weeks back which can be found here.
We’re also very pleased to announce that Labfolder see us as a great addition to their feature suite and have created a brand-new integration, enabling you to take your research from lab book straight through to the cloud.
While most research data are produced in a digital format, scientists still use their lab notebooks for their notes and comments to link pieces of data and to embed them in a larger context.
Instead of using a paper notebook, labfolder allows you to capture research data and notes on workstations and mobile devices across all platforms. With the figshare integration, you are now able to use the following features:
Access the public repository of figshare to download protocols, technical descriptions and datasets and use them right in your experimental planning
Upload your digital lab notebook to figshare to store it together with your raw data
Share your research notes publically on figshare to increase the impact of your research
See how it works with a video here
Publishers already offer platforms for the publication of datasets, like Nature´s Scientific Data and Elsevier´s Article of the Future. With figshare being one of the repositories where the data can be stored for publication, the labfolder integration will further be developed to allow a facilitated upload in structured formats to comply with the specifications and requirements of data platforms.
figshare and labfolder both believe that the future of scientific communication is in data exchange. With the integration of our services, we have made another step towards this future.
