Interested in a broad range of fields from engineering to biology, I am a citizen scientist residing in Singapore. I endeavor to solve problems at the interface of engineering and natural sciences; for example, understanding biology from an engineering perspective. Besides research, I am also actively engaged in thinking about various issues in university education and is an editorial board member of the Journal of Microbiology and Biology Education. Drawing from my experience as teaching assistant and mentor to undergraduate research students, I developed two pedagogical tools: bacterial calligraphy and teaching MALDI-TOF MS microbe identification.
