Ruben Rellan Alvarez

Assistant Professor (Plant biology not elsewhere classified)

Irapuato, México

I got Bachelor degree in Environmental Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where I got interested in using plants to clean up contaminated sites, a technology called phytoremediation. I then moved to Zaragoza an joined the group of Javier Abadia where I studied iron transportation mechanisms in plant fluids and also on the metabolic adaptations of plants to iron deficiency using metabolomics in collaboration with Oliver Fiehn at UC Davis. I am currently working as postodc in the lab José Dinneny at the Carnegie Institution for science where I am developing a soil-based imaging system to better understand root-environment interactions in the “hidden half” of the plant.
