I am a designer-educator whose interest lies in establishing a critical framework for fashion design teaching. My work stresses the importance of cognition and process in design pedagogy in conjunction with the use of traditional and innovative skills involved in creating the design artefact. I am currently a fashion design practitioner and lecturer. My post-graduate work explored nostalgia and the designer’s sense of place, and creates a framework for sustainable fashion design. Areas of research include mid 20th century popular culture and clothing, and wearing as performance. I have written and published on collecting and wearing vintage clothing, and contemporary fashion design pedagogy.
