Pedro Alvarez Cruz is a Cuban pedagogue and Geography professor, born in Havana on November 27, 1980. His professional career is characterized by a commitment to pedagogical innovation and research in the field of Geography didactics, as well as institutional development.

He has a solid academic background, including: a Doctorate in Pedagogical Sciences (2014) from the University of Pedagogical Sciences "Enrique José Varona"; a Master's degree in Didactics of Natural Sciences (2008) from the Higher Pedagogical Institute "Enrique José Varona"; and a Bachelor's degree in Education, specializing in Geography (graduated with honors, 2004) from the Higher Pedagogical Institute "Enrique José Varona."

Throughout his career, he has accumulated extensive teaching experience, both in Cuba and abroad. He worked at the University of Pedagogical Sciences "Enrique José Varona" (2006-2018) and at the Higher Institute of Educational Sciences of Huambo, Angola (2011-2013). He currently holds the rank of Full Professor and teaches Theory and Methodology of Geography and Cultural Geography at the Faculty of Geography, University of Havana.

His research focuses on the cooperative-transformative approach in the teaching and learning of Geography. He is the author and co-author of several books and scientific articles published in national and international journals. His educational philosophy, elective in nature, is based on the ideology of José Martí and Marxism.

He has received numerous awards for his work, including the Rector's Award (2008), the Distinction "For Cuban Education" (2016), the "José Tey" Medal (2023), and the "Golden Chalk" Award on several occasions.
