Nigel Temperton

Professor of Molecular Virology (Virology)

Nigel has a PhD in Molecular Parasitology from LSHTM. Post PhD, Nigel attended UCL for postdoctoral positions in the Centre for Virology and the MRC/UCL Centre for Medical Molecular Virology funded by the Wellcome Trust, the MRC, and industry (Ablynx). He is currently Professor of Molecular Virology at the Medway School of Pharmacy and Director of the Viral Pseudotype Unit. Nigel is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB), the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM), ISIRV and the Microbiology Society. In 2009 Nigel was elected as a member of the Medical Research Club, London. Current research in his lab focuses on universal influenza vaccines and SARS-CoV-2 therapeutic antibodies and neutralisation. His lab is currently funded by the MRC, Innovate UK, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Wellcome Trust.
