Mahmoud Arafat is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Florida International University, Miami, FL. He received his M.S. degree in Transportation Engineering from UAA, University of Alaska Anchorage, Alaska, United States in 2018 with a GPA 4.00 out of 4.00. His Master's thesis research was on pavement materials and his thesis titled "Survey and Economic Analysis of Pavement Impacts from Studded Tire Use in Alaska" was funded by the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (AKDOT). Mahmoud's primary focus is on Intelligent transportation systems and transportation safety. During his Ph.D. program, his research has focused on developing techniques to utilize the safety and mobility benefits through the implementation of Connected and Automated Vehicles CAV.
