KONSTANTINOS AMOIROPOULOS
Associate Professor of Drama (Creative arts and writing; Education; Human society; Language, communication and culture; Philosophy and religious studies)
Oslo, Norway
My inspiration has been education and teaching. While exploring ways to make my practice more effective and meaningful, I discovered the field of drama in education, which instantly captivated me. In 1994, with my first contact with drama in education, I realised that drama has much to offer to children, education, and me as a teacher. Since then, I have dedicated myself to researching the field. All my studies have been orientated towards discovering how drama might benefit education and vice versa. Moreover, I have shared my knowledge and understanding of education and drama with adults and other teachers through lectures and leading workshops in Greece, Norway, Jordan, Palestine, Hungary, the UK, the Czech Republic and China.
I have worked as a primary school and kindergarten teacher for 25 years in Greece. I was also the artistic director of NGO Dia-Dro-mes in Drama and Theatre in Education in Athens, Greece, for 10 years. I organised workshops and seminars on drama in education for adults and children. I have also directed theatre in education programmes for the early years and first years of primary school children. I now work as an Associate Professor of Drama at Oslomet University, Norway.
I am especially interested in drama in education and process drama and how these may connect to critical pedagogy and the Lacanian theory. Drama as a method for teaching curriculum and Participatory Theatre in Education are very important research areas for me.
