Data Librarian (Information and computing sciences)

Melbourne, Australia

Jane Frazier is a Data Librarian at ANDS. She has previously worked in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Music Library cataloging 20th century American vocal sheet music, as curatorial assistant at the Dryad digital repository, and at the UNC Metadata Research Center exploring automatic subject indexing processes for Dryad. Jane completed an internship at the US Library of Congress Policy and Standards Division, participating in the development and production of the Library of Congress Medium of Performance Thesaurus, a companion to the Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) which is used by Library of Congress catalogers to more thoroughly describe items in the LC music collection. From 2013 to 2014 Jane led the research and development of a new web-based cataloging system and companion controlled vocabularies for collectible items with Stanley Gibbons, one of the world’s oldest stamp collecting firms. At ANDS, Jane is currently focusing on the development of collaborative, cross-disciplinary applications for the creation, management, publication and discovery of controlled vocabularies and the development of the med.data project which aims to describe and make available Australian medical research institute-generated research data which is not currently available.
