James Calleja is an academic member at the Faculty of Education (University of Malta) developing continuing professional development (CPD) courses for educators. He previously taught mathematics for 23 years with 6 years of these acting as a head of department. James works with teachers engaging and supporting them in lesson studies. He also organises events, provides professional development workshops for teachers and is presently one of the University team leaders in the MaSDiV (supporting Mathematics and Science teachers in addressing Diversity and promoting fundamental Values) project. James completed his doctoral research with the University of Nottingham (UK) in 2018. His doctoral research focused on CPD design and teacher enactment of inquiry in the mathematics class. James presented his research in a number of conferences both locally and internationally. His main research interests are CPD design, mathematics education, teacher learning, lesson study and inquiry teaching.
