With a background in environmental science and ecology, my work portfolio weaves together an appetite for ecological understanding and a strong ambition to make the world a better place. This manifests through design, education, research, and communication. While my early career was based in the natural environment, in the last 17 years I have worked predominantly in the urban context, often in inter-disciplinary collaborations relating to living architecture but also other forms of multi-functional landscape design (e.g., water-sensitive, urban biodiversity, habitat garden design). My PhD at the University of Sheffield granted unprecedented insights into the development of vegetation and soils on extensive green roofs more than 20-30 years after installation. This project also involved working on an EU project as part of a large, international team.
