From February 2003 until January 2008 I worked at the Royal College of Midwives as Information Systems Manager. I was declared redundant in October 2007 (a sudden decision was made to close the library) and then moved to live in North Yorkshire, where I worked as Library and Information Services Manager at the Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, a mental health and learning disabilities trust, from March 2008 until May 2012, based in Middlesbrough. Previously I had managed the library at the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust Lambeth Hospital site, for the seven years from October 1995 until January 2003.
In November 2001 I obtained the MSc in Information Science (Computerised Library Systems) from University College London, with Distinction.
I moved to Nantwich, Cheshire in June 2012, and started a PhD in information science at the University of Sheffield the following October.
