Carlos Nieto holds two degrees, in Law and History, from the  Complutense University of Madrid, where he specialized in Prehistory  and Archaeology. He has also completed studies as Superior Technician  in Photography from the Design School in Palma de Majorca (Spain). In  his career, spanning over twenty years, he has worked as a field  photographer in many countries around the world, particularly in  Africa. Due to his experience with archaeological and ethnographic  photography, he has participated in several projects as phtographer  and etnoarchaeologist with the Complutense University of Madrid and  the Spanish National Research Council: Art, Landscape and Settlement  in the Oukaïmeden Valley, (High Atlas, Morocco, ARPA Project),  Archeological and ethnoarchaeological survey of Gambela and Anfillo  (Ethiopia), and Ethnic minorities and threatened materialities in  Western Ethiopia, an EMKP project sponsored by the British Musem and  the Arcadia Foundation, in which he has developed a guide por  etnoarchaelogical photography.
