This thesis is a personal and scientific exploration of Tha-na-ka.
The renowned Burmese tree bark paste has been esteemed for centuries as a natural sunblock and a remedy for skin ailments. Grounded in tradition and reinterpreted through contemporary research, Tha-na-ka (Limonia Acidissima) has been found to contain potent bioactive compounds such as Coumarin and Marmesin, which provide antioxidant, anti-aging, and UV protection properties. Drawing upon Myanmar’s cultural heritage and the author’s lifelong connection to this botanical treasure, the study underscores Tha-na-ka’s significance within the contemporary global beauty and wellness industry as a sustainable, natural cosmeceutical ingredient.
