The industrial fishing industry had a sighificant increase with the industrial revolution, causing the industry to boom and continur to innovate. This has been a big contribution to overfishing and decreased fish populations. Many smaller fishing firms are being pushed out of the industry by larger corporations. Some fishermen are looking at alternative oceanic options for income. Kelp farming is a viable and healthy industry in the United States. Kelp is also a carbon sequestor and habitat motivator, making it a beneficial tool in climate change. As a way to educate people on this topic and increase interest in ocean farming, I created a mock mural that could be placed in non-coastal communities.
