Investigating electrohydrodynamic jet printing of superconducting quantum circuits

We have developed an electrohydrodynamic (EHD) jet printer capable of manufacturing at resolutions of under 10?m, at a unit cost of under £10,000. We have also developed a suspension based ink suitable for this process, whose solid component is niobium nitride nanoparticles, which show superconducting properties at temperatures of 6K and under. We show that prior to and after suspension in the ink and simulation of EHD jet printing conditions there is no measurable effect on the superconducting properties of these nanoparticles. We report on attempts to print with this ink, and show progress towards producing a continuous line of superconductor with the EHD jet printer.
