Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were successfully grown on the surface of carbon fibre
reinforcements in carbon fibre architecture through in-situ catalytic chemical vapour
deposition (CCVD). Success was also implemented on powders of oxides and
non-oxides, including Y-TZP powder, ball milled alumina powder, alumina grits,
silicon carbide powder. Preliminary results have been achieved to demonstrate the
feasibility of making ceramic composites consisting of CNTs reinforcements. [Continues.]
