A recommendation made by the International Workshop Panel in 2022 for the development of a new squid assessment model was the collection of monthly size-composition data for squid. However, commercial size composition is currently available only for four different pack categories. This paper reports on a simulation exercise to generate the proportions by weight in each pack category to investigate the feasibility of using pack category size composition to inform the assessment model. Several sensitivities are investigated to try to address the mismatch between the observed and the generated proportions.
