Using integer partitioning to investigate distributions of abundance
This is the first presentation I gave after realizing that ecological distributions, like the rank distribution of species abundances (i.e. RADs) in an ecological community, can be investigated with integer partitioning. In fact, integer partitioning can be used to generate and explore the feasible set (i.e. set of all possible forms a distribution can take), as well as to derive what are perhaps the most simplified and naive (but often powerful) expectations for ecological patterns.
