This brief examines implementation findings from a pilot program seeking to integrate early childhood development (ECD) information, tips, and activities into well-child visits within Jordan’s Ministry of Health. Well-child visits often focus exclusively on physical development. This program recognizes the importance of this focus but also sees the potential of these visits - a regular, consistent point of contact in a child’s early years - as a space where broader ECD, such as social-emotional and communication skills, could be highlighted and discussed. In this study, we used well-child visit observations, health center surveys, and surveys and interviews with healthcare providers and parents/other caregivers to understand the challenges and successes of this integration and how the program might be adapted to better fit with the currency ministry protocols and practices. Key findings and suggestions for future directions are discussed.
