Can COVID-19 increase the risk of neurological conditions? A new online questionnaire study, now open for adults 18+ living in the United Kingdom, is looking into this at the Medway School of Pharmacy, Universities of Greenwich and Kent.

Currently, about 2 million people in the UK are suffering persistent COVID-19 symptoms and/or new ones lasting for months after the infection has gone. Neurological complications, such as brain fog, memory issues, prolonged loss of senses (e.g., taste, smell), insomnia are among the most common symptoms and affect between 30% and 75% of recovering COVID-19 people. In addition, there is a rising concern that this could accelerate or lead to dementia. Why and how this may happen is unclear. Ongoing research in Dr Vuono’s lab aims to provide answers and develop targeted therapies able to prevent dementia later in life.

The questionnaire will take from 10 to 15 minutes to complete and any information you give will remain anonymous and kept confidential.
