BioAcoustica
The BioAcoustica platform has been used to provide access to the Natural History Museum (London) collection of recorded wildlife sound, as well as acting as the designated repository for recordings used in a number of scientific publications. BioAcoustica is built on the open source Scratchpads platform developed under the EU-funded ViBRANT project and has integrated analysis functionality using infrastructure funded by the EU-funded BioVeL project. Recent expansions in functionality allow for the recording of bioacoustics traits using a new ontology, and direct analysis of recordings from the repository using the R computing environment. Traits computed in R can also be published back to the repository from within R. This new functionality underpins the Automated Acoustic Observatories project funded by The Leverhulme Trust.
