Raw data supporting the manuscript "Negative effects of a zoanthid competitor limit coral calcification more than ocean acidification" for review at Biology Letters.

The coral Porites spp. and the zoanthid Zoanthus pulchellus, are common benthic competitors on coral reefs in Bocas del Toro Panama. The data set here includes proportional cover of the coral and zoanthid, relative to total coral cover and total invertebrate cover, from photoquadrat surveys at study sites in Bocas del Toro.

Corals and zoanthids were exposed simultaneously to simulated ocean acidification and competition treatments in the lab, and response variables were measured after 8 weeks of exposure: growth via changes in buoyant weight (i.e., net calcification), growth via changes in polyp count, and photosynthetic efficiency via PAM fluorometry.
