This video clip was recorded by Maulidi Jerry in September 2019, in Jambiani, Zanzibar, Tanzania. It is a video of Bibi Mwaka Ameir and Bibi Mtumwa farming seaweed, and singing as they work. This video sample accompanies Bronwen Clacherty’s (2021) PhD dissertation entitled “Understanding the History of Women's Lives in Zanzibar Through Song and Story: A Gendered Perspective.”
