MDFRC item.
Seasonal changes in species composition of rotifers in seven southeastern Australian impoundments are documented. Reservoirs had different dominant species and low overall community similarity. Rotifers were dominant only in unstable, short retention-time reservoirs. Reservoirs with longer retention-times had microcrustacean communities with calanoid copepods most abundant. Intensive sampling of Mt Bold Reservoir demonstrated extremely rapid changes in the rotifer community.
