With the outbreak of a pandemic and lockdown imposed in most of the countries around the globe, the Indian industry was affected badly. Even after the resumption of air travel, passengers foresee certain serious threats due to new
COVID strains and hence refraining themselves from undertaking frequent air travel. A study on air passengers’
preference during the present life-threatening situation is a need of the hour. The present study focuses mainly on how air passengers’ preference towards air travel has changed during this outbreak and their opinion about the importance given
to the preventive measures adopted at Indian airports. Primary data was collected through an online survey. On analyzing the responses collected from a sample of 60 air passengers, it has been found that air passengers have low satisfaction regarding the preventive measures implemented in Indian airports during the pandemic. They were found to be less satisfied with the facilities provided at airports before the pandemic. The results of the study indicated that fliers’
preference towards air travel has changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and much importance has been felt by them about wearing masks and gloves compared to social distancing and most of the respondents were in the age group of 18-25 and the majority prefer to travel by flight for study purpose.
