Stórbændur from the Vestfirðir present at the wedding at Hjarðardalur 1242

The locations of the farms of these stórbændur are given on this map. This gives a good indication of the political geography of the Vestfirðir in 1242 (as far as it is represented in Þórðar saga kakala). Note well that this map does not include two big players in the Vestfirðir at this time Hrafn Oddsson (at Hrafnseyri with Svarthöfði Dufgusson, who arrived back in Iceland in 1242) or Gísli of Rauðasandur. It is worth noting that Hrafn Oddsson probably swore an oath to Kolbeinn ungi before Svarthöfði returned to Iceland, as one of his tenants - but not he - is noted to have refused to do so.
