Lipid metabolic functionality in 3D human hepatic constructs.

The hepatic construct was incubated with [3H]-oleic acid and [14C]-Acetic acid for 1.5 hours (n = 3) to quantify lipid esterification and lipogenesis functionality, respectively. (A) Formation of [3H]-phospholipid (PL), [3H]-triglyceride (TG), and [3H]-cholesteryl ester (CE) from of [3H]-oleic acid was measured to access the ability of fatty acid esterification. (B) De novo synthesis of [14C]-PL, [14C]-free cholesterol (FC), [14C]-TG, and [14C]-CE from [14C]-acetic acid were measured fractions. Scintillation counts were normalized to total DNA, and mean ± SEM are illustrated. DPM, disintegrations per minute.
