A) Intravascular accumulation of erythrocytes (referred to as erythrocyte stases) in the capillaries and arterioles of 6 and 12 months old WT and Ldlr-/- mice. Importantly, 6 months old Ldlr-/- animals showed the highest number of stases. Analysis of variance with Bonferroni post-hoc test, * P < 0.05, P < 0.01. B) Histological Hematoxylin–Eosin stainings of cortical tissue of 6 and 12 months old WT and Ldlr-/- mice (20x magnification).
