Drawing on the information literacy literature,
the Metrics Literacy project will
develop its own easy-to-understand interpretative framework of building blocks, the draft of which is
shown in Figure 1.
Building blocks are divided into four fields of application (bibliometrics, altmetrics, usage metrics, technometrics) and five research questions (What, How, When do metrics measure, How are metrics and visualization interpreted, How do metrics influence scholarly communication).
