This control sphere is intended to be used in conjunction with a control suit for the purpose of controlling a robotic chassis I have designed. I will describe the robot in another article. The operator of this robot wears a one piece snug fitting suit equiped with angle and angle speed sensors sewn into it at each joint of his or her body. When the operator moves their arm at the elbow for instance, the sensors at that elbow react and create a signal which is sent to this robot. The robot's computer receives the signal and translates it into the exact movement of the robot's arm through stepper motor controlled hydraulic valves and cylinders.

The sphere serves as a moving ground beneath the operator's feet. If the operator wants the robot to run, the operator simply runs and the robot does the same but, when the operator runs he or she runs away from the control area.To prevent this the operator performs the control movements while in this sphere. The sphere supported by bearings in a frame rotates under the operator when they walk, run, crawl etc. This prevents the operator from leaving the control area.
